INSTICOM is in charge of the external communication and media relations for Copernicus, the European Commission’s flagship Earth observation programme. It provides operational data and freely accessible information services and provides users with reliable and up-to-date information on environmental issues.
PR activities consist of issuing regular press releases to inform the media about the latest observations and analyses of the programme, organising interviews and press trips, monitoring journalists’ requests, media monitoring and seizing opportunities to create topics.
Objective:
To make the programme known to the various Copernicus targets and raise their awareness of climate change: the general public, politicians, companies (to adapt their processes and eco-efficiency), scientists, farmers, ecologists,…
Results:
Regular publication of articles on climate change on a European and global scale, provided by a network of satellites and ground stations, and analysed by the programme’s scientific team. The media targets are Belgian daily newspapers and magazines, scientific journals and European media (EU Observer, The Brussels Times, etc.).
