Panasonic Business provided the necessary technology to realize the 640m2 video panorama for the Stormruiter musical. The Storm Rider production was one of the largest productions that Leeuwarden-Fryslân had to offer as the European Capital of Culture of 2018. The Storm Rider tells the dramatic life story of the ambitious dike reeve Hauke Haien, who had only one goal in life: to build a dike that defies the centuries.
The story takes place in 1750 in a village community on the Frisian Wadden Sea coast and is about a couple, Hauke and Elke. The piece is played in a setting of one hundred meters wide and fifty meters deep with sometimes fifty horses and dozens of actors on stage simultaneously. The whole background consists of a gigantic screen that functions as a horizon with video image. This video panorama plays an extremely important role in this performance. Not only as a literal background but also as a visual illustration.
In order to make the uniqueness of this project well-expressed, we have written a case study based on interviews with the director and the video artist. However, text is too limited to include the grandeur of this project, footage was needed! That is why it was decided to also make a video of this project. With a voice-over, we were able to draw extra attention to the strengths of the Panasonic products used in this performance.
